Walks on West Cliff

Thoughts on the Consumer Mobility Market

Excited to kick off a new series: Walks on West Cliff — informal conversations with leaders shaping the hardware product economy, set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Cruz.

Today’s walk was with Kyle Doerksen, founder of Future Motion and creator of the Onewheel. Kyle shared valuable insights into the evolving consumer mobility market:

“The full impact of tariffs hasn’t hit U.S. consumers yet. Many companies are still fulfilling orders from pre-tariff inventory. But once those supplies run out, expect noticeable price increases – especially for products relying on overseas materials (which includes the vast majority of consumer hardware).”

Looking forward to sharing more conversations like this with my friends in the hardware community.

What are your thoughts on the impacts of tariffs on hardware products?
