How to Design Products for Behavior Change

December 7, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming how we interact with the physical world in the same way that the Internet transformed our interactions in the virtual world. This presents tremendous opportunities and challenges for developing new connected products. Unfortunately, many of these products, even when designed with the best intentions, fail when they are launched into the marketplace because they are not designed to become habit-forming; and they are unable to scale in their target markets.

Join us for an informative and interactive discussion with Sunil Maulik, PhD, a leading expert in the field of designing products for long term behavioral change to learn how the latest neuroscience and behavioral economics combined with insights from big data, can help you to develop innovative products that are both “sticky” and “scaly”.

Learn from Sunil …

  • “Lenses” from Design Thinking
  • The neuroscience of how we make decisions
  • Designing products to make them habit forming
  • Using unpredictable variable rewards to make products sticky
  • Using variable content to scale products into target markets

He will share methodologies based on persuasive technology, habit design, and product (feature) design that enable innovative new products to be used by piggy-backing on existing behaviors, and enabling them to scale by iteratively improving them to access adjacent market niches.
